HydraFacial Aftercare Guide
HydraFacial Aftercare Guide
After your HydraFacial, your skin has undergone a thorough cleanse and rejuvenation. While it may be tempting to touch your skin or pick at any small imperfections, it's crucial to avoid disrupting the healing process to maintain the flawless results. Follow these aftercare tips to prolong the benefits of your HydraFacial treatment.
What You Should Do:
- Avoid Excessive Sun Exposure: For at least 3 days post-treatment, stay out of the sun and avoid artificial tanning beds. Apply a minimum of SPF 30 sunscreen to protect your sensitive skin.
- Avoid Retin-A and Tretinoin for 48 Hours: These topical treatments can be too harsh on freshly treated skin, so it’s best to hold off for a couple of days.
What You Shouldn’t Do:
- Don’t Wax or Use Depilatories: Avoid any hair removal treatments on the face for 48 hours to prevent irritation.
- Don’t Undergo Chemical or Laser Treatments: Wait at least 2 weeks before any medium or deep chemical peels, laser resurfacing treatments, or similar procedures.
- Don’t Take Hot Showers or Do Intense Cardio: For 24 hours after your HydraFacial, avoid activities that cause excessive sweating or exposure to high heat, such as hot showers, saunas, or intense workouts.
A Guide to Preserving HydraFacial Results
Day 1:
- Avoid Sweating: Your skin is deeply cleansed and may be sensitive to the oils and bacteria released through sweat. Stay away from vigorous exercise, hot showers, and saunas.
- Skip Makeup: Applying makeup too soon after your facial can clog pores and irritate your skin. It's best to let your skin breathe for the day.
- Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild cleanser and skip the toner in your nighttime skincare routine. Toners can be too drying or irritating on freshly treated skin, and since your skin is already balanced, it won’t need it right away.
Day 2-3:
- Avoid Harsh At-Home Treatments: Avoid products containing salicylic acid, retinol, or harsh exfoliants like peels and toners. Stick to gentle, non-irritating skincare products.
- Skip Face Masks: Many face masks are designed to exfoliate or treat acne, which could cause irritation during this sensitive period. Allow your skin to recover fully before using these.
Day 4-7:
- Postpone Laser and Wax Treatments: Wait at least a week before undergoing any hair removal or laser treatments on your face. Over-exfoliating your skin through waxing or other treatments can leave your skin irritated or dull instead of glowing.
